Monthly Member’s Meeting in June 2022: What You Need to Know

The highlights of our June Member's Meeting are included here. This monthly meeting is a chance to learn about Digital Freight Alliance's planned projects. We begin with a brief overview of last month's meeting and then examine many of the important debates that occurred.

This article will outline the agenda for future meetings and provide information on upcoming Digital Freight Alliance events that you may be interested in attending or participating in.

Vision & Strategy

The DFA is a network association designed to connect freight forwarders to each other and to cargo opportunities. 

Uniquely among such associations, this design is part of a wider vision to facilitate digital transformation for members, by providing the best online digital tools and access to a dynamic cargo booking platform.

 

Digital Freight Alliance & SeaRates

We set up DFA in 2020 as a development from the SeaRates.com freight booking platform which was designed to help smaller cargo owners looking for spot rates to make up that 10 - 15% of their overall freight spend that is not already committed on a contract logistics basis.

Bookings 

The most important part of your Virtual Office. 

Once any customer books your rate(s) for import or export, the booking will appear in this section of the platform. All new bookings will be directed to the ‘new’ tab and those which have been cancelled or finished to the ‘archive’ tab. You can also navigate here using the search filters by focusing your search to ‘mode of transport’ or ‘booking number.’

Adding my commissions 

By opting in your rates for other members, to leverage them for their customers, you have the opportunity to win new business. The member will either add their margin on top of your rates or you can competitively split commissions of your existing rate.

Logistics Explorer

Rates and Tariffs 

This tab is extremely important. It is where you manage your shipping rates by sea, land and air. You can fill in rates in two ways. 

By typing or pasting from the clipboard. 

By using our bulk import function and uploading the document in CSV or Xls format. 

Premium members can upload their rates automatically by using the API system. Each premium member has their own rates manager who will help him upload his rates into the system.
